Golf in CyprusAlthough a fairly recent venue for the golfing traveller, Cyprus is rapidly becoming a favourite destination owing to its superb, championship courses in beautiful settings, and the mild climate allowing all-year round play. There are now three courses on the island (all easily accessible from Paphos), and there are plans to develop five more courses on the island within the next five years. Opened in November 2002. This brand new golf course in Aphrodite Hills is situated on 2 plateaux, 300 metres high overlooking the Mediterranean. It is only 2 minutes from the main Limassol-Paphos highway. This championship course offers golf across a spectacular 18-hole course designed by celebrated golf course designer Cabell B. Robinson in a marvellous setting close to 'Aphrodite's Rock'. Secret Valley Golf Club - 18 hole, par 72, 6158m
Located 18km east of Paphos, it is near 'Petra tou Romiuou' the legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Set in a scenic valley with grand trees and beautiful natural formations all around. The Club-house is in a traditional Cypriot style with locker rooms, a pro-shop, and a restaurant and bar. There is also a Golf Academy with a driving range and video coaching. Tsada Golf Club - 18 hole, par 72, 6208m
Situated on the outskirts of Paphos (taking a turning off the main Polis road) the Tsada course is set in the grounds of a 12th century monastery some 550m above sea level. Donald Steel designed this course in two loops of nine and calls for accuracy rather than long hitting. Tsada offers variety, as no two holes are the same and is a fair challenge for players of all abilities. The club-house offers a prop-shop, a restaurant and bar, changing rooms with showers and saunas, a swimming pool, a driving range and a putting green. |
