Things to do and see in Paphos

Founded around the 4th century BC, Paphos is one of the most beautiful and historic towns in Cyprus. In ancient times, Paphos was the capital of Cyprus and home to the cult of Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty, who according to legend arose from the sea close to this beautiful spot.

Today, the heart of Paphos is the delightful fishing harbour near the Fort (left), lined with tavernas offering a mouth-watering selection of the day's catch, as well as numerous bars and shops.

There are several beaches within Paphos itself, but the best beach in the vicinity is Coral Bay, which is a short drive or bus-ride away.
